INVISTA project underway to drive energy efficiency at site in Rozenburg, the Netherlands
June 11, 2024ROZENBURG, The Netherlands (June 11, 2024) – INVISTA’s site in Rozenburg, the Netherlands, announced a nylon salt concentration project that will reduce the site’s steam consumption and related CO2 emissions.
The project will increase nylon salt concentration from an industry standard of 56% to 62%. The increase in concentration will save energy by reducing steam consumption, thus reducing related CO2 emissions. Once fully implemented, which is anticipated for late 2024, the related step of the nylon production process will use an estimated 30% less energy, resulting in an estimated decrease in CO2 emissions of approximately 3,300 tons per year.
Micaela Zagato, INVISTA’s European Commercial Director - Nylon Polymer, said, “One of the reasons this project is exciting is how it shows our Stewardship framework and environmental priorities in action. Our focus on innovation and energy efficiency made this project possible, and we will now be better able to meet the expectations of the government and our customers in Europe regarding CO2 emission reductions. Our R&D team is also looking forward to the continued innovation in our nylon polymer technology that would bring even greater energy efficiencies in the months and years ahead.”
Josh Warmington-Brown, INVISTA Rozenburg site manager, added, “This is the first of several projects that are part of our site’s long-term plan to transform our competitiveness and be better positioned to serve our customers.”
